Define “mini” from the job and exact machine
Category labels vary between manufacturers and markets; confirm the exact machine rather than relying on one weight cutoff. For example, Caterpillar’s current new mini-excavator range is presented as 1–10 metric tons. That is a current new-machine reference, not proof of a PRIMA used unit, its configuration or its destination classification.
For each proposed used machine, compare the full model and suffix, plate/PIN, documented operating weight and fitted equipment. A bucket, coupler, blade, cab, counterweight, boom, rubber or steel track and other configuration choices can change access, transport and job suitability.
Confirm job and access requirements before selection
For a first enquiry, your job, approximate budget, destination and a reply contact are enough to begin. Before selecting a machine, confirm these details as available:
- destination country, final city or port and expected importing entity;
- access width, height and turning/tail-swing limits;

Records to request for each proposed machine
Every shortlisted machine should have one record that connects:
- Candidate ID and source: one stable machine or listing reference, current holder and yard/location.
- Machine identity: full model/suffix and readable serial or PIN plate. Redact personal or sensitive information that is not needed to identify the machine.
- Configuration: cab/canopy, blade, boom/arm, track type/width, bucket/coupler, auxiliary lines and fitted attachments.
- Year and hours: state the evidence source and whether either field remains unverified. Hours do not prove condition.
- Current photo set: all sides, plate, dashboard, engine bay, boom/arm/house, undercarriage, tracks, blade, bucket/coupler and defects.
- Running evidence: cold start where practical, idle, dashboard/fault display, travel both directions, steering, swing, boom/arm/bucket/blade, auxiliary circuit when relevant and a job-appropriate test by qualified personnel. Record the inspector, date, test conditions and anything not tested.
- Condition record: leaks, smoke, abnormal sound, drift, play, welds, cracks, wear, missing guards and declared repairs.
- Attachment fit: pin/ear dimensions, coupler interface, hydraulic requirements and included/not-included scope.
- Document route: seller/holder identity, invoice description, available ownership/export records and destination-specific open items.
- Commercial snapshot: price basis, currency, quote validity, reservation/deposit rule, Incoterm, included inspection/packing scope, exclusions and refund/hold boundary.
Do not combine photos from different machines into one candidate file. Do not infer identity, year, hours, ownership, condition or availability from a filename, paint color or model decal.
